A Thought on Methodology

In order to acquire a basic knowledge of the difference between professional and amateur film reviews, I've decided to follow a (very) select group of published professional reviews, professional bloggers, and amateur bloggers.

Professional Writing:

"The Current Cinema" in The New Yorker (Print)

"Movies" in The New York Times (Print)

"The Front Row" by Richard Brody (Online-The New Yorker)

RogerEbert.Com by Roger Ebert (Online-Chicago Sun Times)

Bloggers:

Rotten Tomatoes (Online)
   i.  Not exactly amateur, critics must be published and have editorial oversight.  For a description of the requirements in order to become a "Tomatometer" see Rotten Tomatoes' list of criteria.

Ain't It Cool News by Harry Knowles (Online)

The Movie Blog: The Official Home of Correct Movie Opinions (Online)

Cinematic Happenings Under Development (CHUD) (Online)
